Cinema Workshop, Rowan's student film club, will be holding its annual student film festival tonight, April 17. The event will be held in the Bozorth Hall Auditorium at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person and will go towards the club to fund future films.
There will be a series of films being shown by students as well as alumni.
The festival will also include a collection of one-minute films made in the beginning of the year, which every member has the opportunity to take part in.
"With not only our larger scale productions being shown, we're also showcasing films from our one-minute festival, which allows for virtually every member of the club to see at least one film they helped create," said Cinema Workshop President Jeff Reeves, "Frankly, everything we do in the club goes towards this night."
The festival will also show the last two films made for the Philadelphia 48 Hour Film Festival, an annual event that the club participates in that requires them to make a movie in only 48 hours. Last year's "My Day With Daddy" and 2006's "Behind the Flames: As the Fire Burns" are among those being shown.
"I'm excited to have a film in the premiere this year," said senior Megan McLaughlin. "I think the radio/TV/film program at Rowan has so much to offer and Cinema Workshop only adds to that. It is a great place to express your creativity and it's wonderful to have a premiere to showcase your final product."
Students of all majors are invited to attend and come see what their peers put their hard work and effort into.
"The only thing more rewarding than making movies is actually watching them," Reeves said. "Without question, for the filmmaker working in the club, the Cinema Workshop Premiere is the most exciting night of the year."
